2017 International Energy Workshop

Welcome to the website of the 36th edition of the International Energy Workshop (IEW) organized by the Joint Global Change Research Institute of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) and University of Maryland (UMD), in College Park, Maryland, USA on July 12-14, 2017.
The annual IEW ( is a leading event for the international energy modeling community and presents an opportunity for scholars and researchers to compare quantitative energy projections, to understand the reasons for diverging views of future energy developments, and to observe new trends in global energy production and consumption.

If you require an invitation letter for your visa application please get in contact with the Workshop Lead Organizer in advance of your trip. The visa application may require weeks to be finalized so you should check with your local embassy or consulate.  Please be advised you will be sent an invitation letter only after receiving the full payment of your registration fee.

IEA-ETSAP meetings 
Prior to the IEW 2017, the IEA-ETSAP meetings will be held in College Park on Monday, July 10th and Tuesday, July 11th.  The regular ETSAP workshop will occur on Monday and Tuesday. The Executive Committee meeting will occur on Tuesday afternoon. The TIMES training course will run concurrent with the workshop from Wednesday to Friday, July 12th-14th.
